Daniel Nathan “Willison” Olufsen passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 18, due to complications from type 1 diabetes, which he had for over 31 years.

Son of Dan and Carol Olufsen, he was born on December 31, 1976 in Eureka and lived the majority of his life here.

Daniel attended local schools, HBAS, South Bay, and Garfield where he met his life long friend and teacher, Chris Gordon. He attended  EHS and graduated in 1996, and later attended UTI in Sacramento.

Daniel was the kind of person who could make you laugh while his blue eyes sparkled. He was always reaching out talking to strangers, making friends wherever he went. A kind-hearted soul, he made an impact on those he met, and will be missed deeply by his family and those that loved him.

His life long dream of working on BMW’s became a reality when he was hired by the local BMW dealership part-time. Until his health issues took their toll, he had always hoped to return to that kind of work.

Daniel is survived by his brothers and their wives, Joshua & Esperanza Olufsen and Andrew & Lareena Olufsen, one niece and one nephew, and numerous cousins; aunts Brenda & Bob Bishop, Bonnie and Mark Jones, Judi Newbold, and Rhonda Labon.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Dorothy Britt, and paternal grandparents, Milton Olufsen and Verna Mincks, and uncle Oscar Camacho.

Memorial services will be held Saturday October 24, Rohnerville Assembly of God Church, 1530 Rohnerville Road, Fortuna at 11 a.m.
