All lanes of Highway 299 have been closed due to an active slide near Big Bar.

There is no estimated time for when the roadway will be cleared. The California Highway Patrol reports this will probably be a long term closure as conditions are too dangerous to send cleanup crews to the scene.

The roads will be cleared when the sliding subsides.
