The world became a brighter place when Cindie was born on July 20, 1991. Our hearts broke as she passed away from this world onto the next on January 11, 2016.

She was born in Arcata and lived her life along the river attending Jack Norton Elementary and Hoopa High School. She was a member of the Yurok Tribe.

In the fleeting time that she was with us, Cindie filled everyday with love, smiles, warmth and laughter. While outwardly soft-spoken, she was a strong person who exuded compassion and found great joy in making the people around her happy. She maintained a positive attitude and upbeat personality through every challenge that was placed before her. She always had a shoulder to lean on, open ears to listen and gave the best advice.

Cindie’s legacy can be found in the great love that she had for her family — her children, Troy and Stephanie Myers, her partner, Richard Myers, her parents, Dawn “Pooh Bear” & Joe Gurule and Marvin Smoker; siblings Aurelia & Xavier Knight, Phil Reed & Ashley Masten, Rose Smoker & Ryon Scott, Joe & Julia, Marissa, Mike & Monique; her nieces and nephews Aliya, Quil & Nalani Knight, Wey-sey, Akira & Dwayne Reed, Zackary Scott and Elliott.

She was blessed to grow up with Margo & Dick Robbins, Teresa Mansell and Val, who each had a profound impact on the person that she became. She cherished all of her aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents Charles Pergish Donahue, Ethel, Lawrence and Dee Reed.

Her greatest source of happiness came from being a Mom to her children and Auntie to her nieces and nephews. She loved spending time with her family and friends, joking and laughing until their stomachs hurt. She loved music that spanned across genres and generations.

It’s difficult to summarize all of the wonderful memories and qualities of Cindie but we know that her kindness, beauty and love will live on through her children and everyone else whose lives she touched.
