Roads near the intersection of G and Seventh streets in Arcata are currently closed while emergency personnel deal with burning van aftermath.
Just after 10:30 a.m. Friday morning the van’s owner called 911 to report that she’d pulled over after seeing smoke coming out of the van’s vents, which eventually filled the cab. At one point flames were visible coming out of the hood.
Arcata Fire District Battalion Chief, Sean Campbell tells LoCO’s Sierra Jenkins that he was first on the scene and kept the blaze in check until an engine could arrive to fully extinguish the fire.
The driver and her sons were uninjured.
