Eureka Police Department press release: 

On February 8, 2017, at about 12:56 a.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department responded to a hotel room on the 3500 block of Broadway for the report of a disturbance. Officers made entry into the room and found an unconscious female. Lifesaving efforts were immediately initiated by police, fire, and ambulance personnel, but were unsuccessful. The female, age 16 from Eureka, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her identity is being withheld until next of kin is notified. Foul play is not suspected and the investigation is ongoing.

An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the cause of death. Anyone with information regarding either incident is asked to call the Eureka Police Department at (707) 441-4060.
