Actor Matt LeBlanc and TV production crews appear to be in town filming an episode for the beloved car series “Top Gear.

LoCO reader Suzanna Kathlene Church sent us the above footage of an amphibious car driving across Ruth Lake yesterday, saying it was part of a Hollywood production. So LoCO got to researching and we found this:

On July 8, the official Top Gear Instagram hinted that crews are filming in the California redwoods.

“You need an unassuming, unobtrusive car to hunt for the big guy. Yep, we’re going to find Bigfoot,” the Instagram post reads. “In a Volvo V90 Cross Country … #Volvo #v90 #Bigfoot#California #Redwoodforest #fantasticbeasts

LoCO got another report from r
eader Alex Fitanides, who says he saw LeBlanc, best known for his role as Joey in “Friends,” filming in Forest Glen near the south fork of the Trinity River yesterday afternoon, just off Highway 36.

“10 to 15 cars, a semi trailer and a USFS ranger pulled up onto a National Forest road and started to set up,” Fitanides wrote to LoCO. “Turns out it was ‘Top Gear’ filming with Matt LeBlanc for the new season. We hung out for a while, [but] the producers didn’t like us being there and asked us to leave eventually. They said they’re going to be in the area for a few more days.”

This wouldn’t be the first time the show filmed in and around Humboldt County. The Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission’s website features a written testimony from “Top Gear” producer Travel Dowell on his past experience working in Humboldt.

“Throughout the entire process the film commission was fantastic, quick to respond and extremely knowledgeable about the resources in their area,” Dowell’s testimony reads. “We could not be more pleased with the outcome and would highly recommend this beautiful area and great people to other productions.”

Keep your eyes peeled Humboldt, and continue sending us information. Let’s see those Matt LeBlanc selfies!
