Man Impeding Investigation Dies From Medical Emergency After Being Released From Handcuffs, HCSO Says
Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release:
On 07-08- 17, Humboldt County Sheriff Deputies contacted several subjects on South
Depot Road in Fields Landing due to complaints of trespassing and illegal dumping.
While speaking with these subjects an uninvolved person began impeding the
investigation. That subject was detained in handcuffs until the investigation was
completed.
He was released from handcuffs and walked away. As the subject walked
away, he began experiencing a medical emergency and lifesaving efforts were initiated
by deputies on scene.
Medical personnel arrived on scene and the subject was
transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The identity of the
deceased is being withheld until the next of kin has been notified.

Critical Incident Response Team has been summoned and will begin their investigation
