This morning on KHUM I had the pleasure to talk with Eric Kirk and Brenda Perez about their support of Measure K, a countywide measure that will appear on the November ballot. It would in essence establish Humboldt County as a sanctuary county. This is in reaction to the Trump administration’s new zero-tolerance policies that have separated families and disrupted communities.
California has already established itself as a sanctuary state, however, measure K goes further to protect our local community. If this passes, it will be the first ballot measure of its kind to establish these kinds of protections.
