Arcata’s Leo Janzen will represent the Humboldt-Del Norte League in the North Coast Section boys singles tennis championships after winning the league title at No. 1 singles on Wednesday.

Janzen, who has led the way all season on a dominant Tigers team, defeated Northcoast Prep’s Hannes Milker in the final by a score of 6-2, 6-3.

The NCS tournament will be held in early May.

The Arcata boys continued their dominance at the singles championships, taking five of the six titles.

NPA’s Tareq Ahrari prevented the sweep with a title at No. 3, defeating Arcata’s Addison Childs, 6-4, 6-3 in the the championship.

At No. 2, Yasko Massias defeated NPA’s Gabe Blank, 6-4, 7(7)-6(1), while teammate Hunter Lewis won at No. 4, defeating NPA’s Garrett Leach, 6-4, 6-4. 

At No. 5, Tristan Washington got the better of Alex Lamers, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, while at No. 6, Spencer Olson defeated Caleb Weiss, 6-1, 6-0.

The H-DNL doubles championships will be held at Fortuna High on Friday, with the action getting under way at 10 a.m.
