Candi Dee Colegrove-Tracy, born November 2, 1961, passed away May 3, 2019 at her home in Hoopa, surrounded by family and friends.

Candi was born in Hoopa and was a proud member of the Hoopa Valley Tribe. She attended school at Fredrick and Charles and was a beautician by trade. She worked at Child Development, Hoopa Health Association and attended College of the Redwoods. She loved watching the Food Network, keeping her nails pristine, and visiting with family and friends. She had a superb sense of style, smelt like a million bucks and was always cuddled up with a big fluffy blanket. She was known as an outstanding cook, especially when it came to her lasagna and spaghetti. Candi looked forward to attending her Tribe’s traditional dances every year and making regalia.

Candi is preceded in death by her father Alfred “Riggs” Colegrove, Jr., sister Kathleen “Ducks” Colegrove, brother Mike Kelsey, grandparents Alfred Sr. and Mabel Colegrove, Jimmy and Pearl Jackson, aunts and uncles Leona “Chicken” Lente-Jackson, LeRoy “Bitsy” Jackson, Leonard “Boob” Jackson, John “Chief” Jackson, Bobby Hostler, Frank Grant, Alfreda Colegrove-Pratt, Lionel “Lonnie” Colegrove, Christopher “Johnny” Colegrove, and Bryan “Stoney” Colegrove, Sr.

Candi is survived by her mother and step-father: Lila and Jay Dee Gerstner, her two sons and daughter-in-laws: Jeffrey, Jr. and Katie Hodge and Alexander Hodge, Sr. and Athena Markussen, and her grandchildren: Alexander Hodge, Jr. and Weysey Markussen. Along with her brothers and sisters: Rocky and Joanna Colegrove, Alfred Colegrove, III, Perry Colegrove,, Deserri Colegrove, Shelli and Gary Dempewolf, Rachelle Colegrove, Cecil and Trini Inong, Julia and Richard “Richie” Guyer, Aymee Perry, and Aunts and Uncles: Gary and Kathy Colegrove, Lincoln and Janet Jackson, Lillian “Mush” Hostler, Laura “Doolie” Ferris, Ilene Colegrove, Alex Pratt, James “Sonny” Jackson, Zane and Anita Grant, Leslie Jackson, Jack Badgley and Laura Lee George.

We would also like to thank the staff at Kima:w Medical Center, Fresenius Kidney Care, Hoopa Ambulance, St. Joseph Hospital, Tialisa Miller, and Elouisa Marshall for helping care for Candi. Arraignments are being made at Paul’s Chapel. Services will be held at Hoopa Neighborhood Facilities on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 11 a.m. Reception will be at the Hoopa Fire Hall following the services.
