Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – Chase “Biscuit” Steubing and his teammates will host Fortuna in their league opener and homecoming game this Saturday.

A busy Saturday on the sports fields will cap a busy week of homecoming festivities at Eureka High, with no less than five games on tap.

The boys soccer team will get the action under way at 11 a.m. when the Loggers host Del Norte, followed by the girls soccer team at 1 p.m., against the same opposition.

The Eureka girls will need a win to keep pace with league leaders Fortuna as the race for the H-DNL championship looks set to go down to the wire.

Also in action on Saturday, the Loggers will host their alumni volleyball game at noon.

And capping a busy day for the school, the JV and varsity football teams will host a doubleheader against Fortuna on Saturday evening, with the JVs kicking off at 4 p.m. and the varsity at 6:30 p.m.

The football games are also the league openers for both squads.

In addition to a busy Saturday, on Thursday night the Loggers will host their hall of fame induction ceremony in the school cafeteria, with four new members being honored.

This year’s class includes Duane Petersen, Tony Adan, Ana Vainuku and Max Hooper.
