Mary Beth Baldy Doolittle was born September 17, 1955 to the late Newton Sr. and Nancy Gardner Baldy. She passed away peacefully at home after a long battle of health issues and with her husband and family by her side on October 18, 2020. Mary was born in Hoopa and lived her entire life on the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation, where she was a proud Hoopa Tribal Member. She worked many years in the Child Care Program for the Tribe. She also loved to play Bingo and enjoyed spending time playing cards and dice with her family. Her greatest moments were spending time with her grandchildren and the many travels on the road with her husband.

Mary leaves behind her husband of 50+ years Kenneth Doolittle, her daughter Rita Doolittle and son Ryon Markussen (Joy Hostler), she is survived by her grandsons, Ryon “Bub” Markussen, Byron Markussen, Ta’na:n Markussen and Kit-say “Kits” Powell, her granddaughters Athena Dove Markussen-Hodge (Alex Hodge), Ki’da:y Powell-Reeves (Terrance Reeves), and her great grandchildren: Wey-Se-Naw, Alex Jr., Vernon, Joseph, Troy and Zachery.

Mary is also survived by her brothers Keith Baldy, Lyle Baldy Sr., Alex Pratt and her sisters Julie McKinnon, Valerie Harvey, Sonja Baldy, Darcy Miller, Kathleen Dean, Lulu Baldy, and Carol Courtney. Brother in-law Vernon “Sonny” Pratt, sister in-laws Fern Doolittle Rogers and Carole Nixon-Baldy as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Newton and Nancy Baldy, her daughter Rachel Doolitte, her brothers Newton Jr., Clarence Baldy, Kenneth Baldy, Allen “Cash” Davis, Edgar Norton Sr., her sisters Nancy Baldy and Elizabeth “Dolly” Marshall.

Pallbearers will be her nephews Rodney Robbins, John Robbins Jr., Ronnie Robbins, Filmore Harvey Jr., Floyd “Cowboy” Billings, Lyle “Elvis” Baldy Jr., Leroy Baldy, Derik Baldy, Frank Richards, Lare “Toss” McKinnon, Isaac Bussell, Bruce Bussell, Lance Marshall Sr., Kevin Pacheco, Bautisto “Cheetos” Pacheco, Andrew Pratt, Arlen Doolittle Sr. and Burr Rogers.

Honorary Pallbearers: Dean Powell, Arlen Doolittle Jr., Virgil Doolittle, James Doolittle, Johnny and Sammy Pratt, Sorren Richards, Herman Quinn, Ramius Davis, Nigel Davis, Sinjen Surber, Frank Surber Jr., Denny Colegrove, Dana Chisum Jr., Lance Marshall Jr., Kevin McConnell, Robert Davis, Kenny Norton, Thomas VanBergen and Daniel Pratt. The family wishes to give our deepest apologies if we have left anyone out.

A family wake will be held in Hoopa on Thursday October 22, 2020 at her home and due to COVID-19 restrictions, a graveside service will be held Friday October 23, 2020 at 11 a.m. on Baldy Flat.
