… or, as a scene from a thriller!

INT. CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE - DAY

Merritt Perry, a middle-aged woman with a stern demeanor, sits behind her desk, scanning through the staff report. She frowns as she reads the upcoming meeting dates, her eyes narrowing with concern.

MERRITT PERRY
(speaking to herself)
Something doesn’t seem right. These meeting dates…they’re all over the place. Why would there be a special workshop before the regular council meeting?

She leans back in her chair, deep in thought. Suddenly, her office door swings open, revealing JASON CLARK, a young and eager assistant.

JASON CLARK
(excitedly)
Merritt! Have you seen this? We just received a anonymous tip about a possible threat during the council meetings!

Merritt’s eyes widen, startled by the revelation.

MERRITT PERRY
(urgently)
What kind of threat, Jason? Who sent the tip?

JASON CLARK
(stammering)
I-I don’t know. It didn’t say. Just that there’s someone planning to make a move during one of the upcoming meetings.

Merritt’s mind races, trying to connect the dots.

MERRITT PERRY
(thinking aloud)
The special workshop…the council meetings…they’re all potential targets. We need to beef up security immediately.

She jumps out of her chair, grabbing her phone and dialing a number.

MERRITT PERRY (CONT’D)
(into phone)
This is Merritt Perry, City Manager. I need to speak with Chief Anderson right away. It’s an emergency.

She paces back and forth, anxiety evident on her face as she waits for Chief Anderson to pick up.

MERRITT PERRY (CONT’D)
(into phone, impatiently)
Come on, Chief, pick up.

Finally, Chief Anderson’s voice crackles through the phone.

CHIEF ANDERSON (V.O)
(slightly out of breath)
Merritt, what’s going on? Is everything okay?

MERRITT PERRY
(frantically)
No, Chief. We just received an anonymous tip about a potential threat during the council meetings. We need extra security immediately.

CHIEF ANDERSON (V.O)
(gravely)
I’ll assemble a team right away, Merritt. We’ll make sure everyone’s safe.

Merritt takes a deep breath, relieved to have Chief Anderson on the case.

MERRITT PERRY
(softly)
Thank you, Chief. Let’s hope we catch this person before any harm comes to our city.

She hangs up the phone, a determined look on her face. Merritt gathers her things, ready to face the challenge head-on.

FADE OUT.
