Criminals or Sick?
It seems drug addicts are psychically addicted to substances, leaving less room for choice once the body becomes dependent upon it. Do you view drug addicts as criminals, or sick? And how does sentencing effect their opportunity to get better or lack thereof.

A good question but an easy one to answer.
Most people think of addiction as criminal behavior. I DO NOT.
My first priority will be public safety and to protect the citizens of Humboldt County. Therefore, if you commit a crime and you are caught, I will prosecute you. If you do not commit a crime, I will establish outreach programs to get help to those who seek it and need it.
