Your Bar Record

The California State Bar website states that you were sanctioned and suspended from the practice of law after stipulating to 16 counts of misconduct including lying to clients, stealing clients’ money, forging court documents, and other acts of moral turpitude.

Why do you think that you can be the chief law enforcement officer in the county when you have such a record of dishonesty, if not criminal behavior?

Also, the State Bar record notes that you are under the care of a psychiatrist. Is that still true?

Allan Dollison

First off, I completely addressed this in my campaign announcement, and have never shied away from this topic at any stage. Recently, I answered questions about it during my KHSU interview with Eric Kirk. I made a mistake, and for the rest of my professional career and life, I have had nothing but repentance and a request for forgiveness for that mistake. In 1997, I closed my office to take another legal position. The vast majority of my cases were referred to out to another attorney, who is to this day, a close friend. I held onto 4 cases, that I felt I would be able to complete in the time to close the office. I was wrong. In one case, I represented to a client, that I had filed a motion, when I had not. In another, a Bankruptcy petition was not filed. It is important to note, that I accepted responsibility for my wrong-doing. I completely returned all of the fees, totaling over $2,000. I took and successfully passed the Ethics test. I did everything the State Bar asked of me. I am a Christian who believes in the ideals of forgiveness. I do not believe that one mistake, so remote in time, should control the way I am evaluated and perceived for the rest of my professional life. In light of everything that I have done since then, to include serving as an Asst Atty General in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, serving as a Contract Public Defender in Amador county, and serving as a Deputy DA and Chief Prosecutor in Humboldt county. In the latter position, I prosecuted Murder cases, Sexual Violent Predator cases, a Child Molestation case, Rape cases, home invasion Robbery cases, and many other serious and violent felony cases. This election is about the future of Humboldt County, and whether or not we can feel safe in our communities again, and what type of justice system we will have. I am proud to have that discussion about the future. Some just want to have a discussion about the past. In the past negative personal attacks campaigns have been the staple in Humboldt County. I will not conduct such a campaign. Rather I am talking about the issues in this campaign. The mismanagement, the lack of resources, the loss of grant funding, the Sheriff’s disastrous midnight release program, that continues unabated, and what the right and correct staffing levels of the office should be. I will highlight those differences between myself, and where relevant other campaigns who have contrary views on these important issues. No, I am not seeing a Psychiatrist.
