Scott Greacen asks Michelle Bushnell

Why are you trying to prevent public access to our rivers?

You’ve attempted to vacate the long-standing public easement that allows access to the Van Duzen River via, yes, Fisher Road. You’ve repeatedly stated your opposition to the Great Redwood Trail, which will allow locals and visitors alike to walk, bike, and ride along the magnificent Eel River, and will help restore the appeal of the Redwood region that places like Murder Mountain have tarnished. Do you think that only landowners have rights?

The landowner did the application for the vacation of Fisher Road. I also advised this land owner to abandoned the application that it was not likely to pass at the Board level. As you are aware this is not something one Supervisor can do on their own. Happy to talk to you about it, as some of your information seems to be incorrect . 707-223-3977

My postion on the GRT is not just one of only  opposition. My job is to make sure the landowners are considered and that their concerns are addressed. I have spoken to Senator McGuire many times on this topic, informing him of the concerns from landowners that I am receiving. I don’t think only landowners have rights, however when it is for public benefit at their expense, their concerns need to be considered.   There is a lot of public benefit with the GRT. I want to support the GRT and think it will  provide great things for our area, when the landowners concerns are addressed I will do just that .

I would be happy to discuss any of these topics with you or anyone at length 707 223 3977
