Petroleum Incident in Ferndale

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Ferndale at around 12:38 p.m. today.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Caller states they saw a large sheen on top of the EEL river. Not sure of cause.

This was the third hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Ferndale area this year and the 43rd petroleum spill in the county overall.
