Petroleum Incident in Loleta

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Loleta at around 3 p.m. today.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

**POTENTIAL RELEASE**

Per NRC,
CALLER STATES THAT THERE IS A VESSEL (PLEASURE CRAFT) THAT IS OVERTURNED ON THE
PACIFIC OCEAN. THE VESSEL HAS A POTENTIAL TO DISCHARGE AN UNKNOWN
AMOUNT OF GASOLINE INTO THE WATER. CALLER STATES THAT THE VESSEL IS
EITHER A PLEASURE CRAFT OR A RECREATIONAL BOAT.

This was the third hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Loleta area this year and the 32nd petroleum spill in the county overall.
