Petroleum Incident in Samoa

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Samoa at around 8 a.m. today.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Per NRC: " Caller is reporting the discovery of an unknown sheen on the outer reach of Humboldt Bay near the Samoa bridge.
Sheen Size Length: 500 YARDS
Sheen Size Width: 100 YARDS
Body of Water: OUTER REACH OF HUMBOLDT BAY
Tributary of: HUMBOLDT BAY"

This was the second hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Samoa area this year and the 31st petroleum spill in the county overall.
