Petroleum Incident in Big Lagoon Park

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Big Lagoon Park at around 1 p.m. today.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

PER NRC: "CALLER IS REPORTING AN UNKNOWN SHEEN FROM AN UNKNOWN SOURCE ON BIG LAGOON AT THE COORDINATES PROVIDED. REMEDIAL ACTIONS: NONE. RELEASE SECURED: UNKNOWN"

This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Big Lagoon Park area this year and the 39th petroleum spill in the county overall.
