Petroleum Incident in Eureka

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Eureka at around 10 a.m. today.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Per NRC #1350333, "The caller stated that they discovered an unknown sheen from an unknown source in Humboldt Bay." SHEEN ODOR: Diesel REMEDIAL ACTIONS: The caller stated that they are conducting an investigation into the sheen.

This was the 23rd hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Eureka area this year and the 52nd petroleum spill in the county overall.
