Petroleum Incident in Rio Dell

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a road in Rio Dell at around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30.

Less than one gallon of a substance described as “non- pcb mineral oil” was released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Per the reporting party: A n equipment failure caused an overhead transformer to release less than 1 gallon of non-pcb mineral oil onto a concrete sidewalk in a 3 feet x 3 feet radius. Cleanup has been conducted by a contractor and repairs have been made by PG&E personnel.

This was the ninth hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Rio Dell area this year and the 38th petroleum spill in the county overall.
