Petroleum Incident in Unincorporated County Area Humboldt

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Unincorporated county area Humboldt at around 11:08 a.m. today.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Per NRC Report : "Caller states during a routine MH-60 flight, aircraft personnel discovered an unknown sheen from an unknown source in the Pacific Ocean. The sheen was rainbow in color and 400 yards x 100 yards. There were 2 vessels in the area of the sheen." (see confidential field for vessel information)

This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Unincorporated county area Humboldt area this year and the third petroleum spill in the county overall.
