Petroleum Incident in Eureka

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Eureka at around 8:30 a.m. today.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Per the NRC Report : "The caller stated that they discovered an unknown sheen from an unknown source at (a) dock." Sheen described as black in color. Remedial Actions : "The caller stated that they preformed a cleanup of the affected area."

This was the sixth hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Eureka area this year and the 12th petroleum spill in the county overall.
