3. The Gardens of Victoria Onstine and Jayne McNeilly
Third stop of the day took us to the mystical garden of Victoria Onstine and Jayne McNeilly tucked away behind Ramone’s off Harrison Avenue. We were immediately transported to a world of fantastical creatures, home to the faeries, gnomes, unicorns and dragons. Entering the garden, one first passes through a gateway of bamboo, just beyond the zen tea house.
The garden is a series of sloping paths that meander down the hill. While whimsical beings mingle throughout the entire garden, it seems each kind has a designated congregating area. For example, while unicorns visit many areas of the garden, there seems to be one spot — the “Unicornery” — that they particularly enjoy together.
I was especially partial to the treasure-drunk dragons …
… and the miniature faery resort, complete with a pool!
