Mystic Lion is a folk/roots reggae band that was formed in 2013 by singer/songwriter Jenifer Breeze. After years of playing folk, blues, and pop, it was her dream and heart’s desire to expand and form a reggae band so she searched to find the right musicians who had the skill and drive to play this inspirational, original music that carries a spiritual message. Her search led her to these outstanding musicians from other established local bands: Sonny Ray Hauk on guitar and vocals (Kindred Spirits), Oren McCaffrey on keyboards (Juce), Norman Norm Crawford or Scott Kranzberg on bass (the Dub a dubs), Mike Kimmel on drums (Asha Nan), and Justin Schwartzman on horns (Silver Hammer, Eyes Anonymous, Asha Nan, the Hip Joint). Together with Jenifer, they form a unique blend of roots vibes that is sure to make your heart dance and move your soul. With song titles like “Liberation from the System” and “The Giver”, Mystic Lion has a mystical message of love, hope and unity that strives to bring a new take on reggae music that emphasizes soft, breathy female vocals over rude boy riddims.
