College of the Redwoods 50th Anniversary Party

College of the Redwoods

College of the Redwoods will celebrate its 50th year with an anniversary party at the Eureka campus on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 4 to 6 p.m.

On Jan. 14, 2014 Humboldt County voters overwhelmingly approved the formation of the CR District, a $3.6 million construction bond and seven trustees.

“We will reflect on 50 years of transforming lives,” said CR President Kathy Smith. “We invite everyone to reunite with classmates, instructors, co-workers, administrators and trustees.”

The day will start with the football homecoming game in Community Stadium at 2 p.m. against Mendocino College.

The anniversary festivities will begin at 4 p.m. in a big tent on the lawn in front of the new Humanities Building. There will be tours of the new Academic Buildings, the Learning Resource Center and the Student Services/Administration Building.

The CR Jazz Band will play while participants enjoy vintage photos of CR’s history, complimentary appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages, and purchase beer and wine. There will be several guest speakers with links to CR’s five-decade past.
