Introduction to Creative Writing

College of the Redwoods Community Education-Del Norte

Dates: August 6th - September 3rd, 2015 Days: Thursdays Time: 6pm - 8pm Fee: $50 Location: Del Norte Campus Room DC1 Instructor: Mackenzie Cox Student will learn techniques required in fiction, non-fiction and other genres of writing. Students will be encouraged to begin writing a short story or an essay at the beginning of the session and finish before the class is over. Stories and essays will be workshopped in class so that they reach their full potential. There will be discussions about books, what works inside the pages and what doesn’t. This class will cover recurring characters, why we love them and, best of all, how to sculpt them yourself. Naturally, we will talk about the notorious writer’s block and how to smash it down!
