A longtime disciple of the rich and strange music that sings behind the American veil, Foucault has spent the last decade mining the darker seams of country and blues, producing a string of spare and elemental albums of rare power while garnering accolades across the United States and overseas for a tersely elegant brand of songwriting set apart by its haunting imagery and weather-beaten cool. Comparisons to Chris Smither, Townes Van Zandt, Neil Young abound as he delivers quiet yet powerful songs with profound, literate and mysterious lyrics. No Depression Magazine calls him “one of our most truly poetic songwriters…” The New York Times called him “a young man with an old soul…contemporary and timeless.” Foucault has recorded 5 albums under his own name, including his latest called Horse Latitudes. Foucault also performs and records with singer songwriters Peter Mulvey, and his wife Kris Delmhorst under the group name Redbird.
