‘The Apocalypse is Over’ Album Release Tour

John Craigie, the itinerant singer-songwriter who has spent most of the decade continuously touring across the U.S., has announced the release of his newest album “The Apocalypse is Over.” Craigie will kick off his tour on Thursday, September 5, at Caldera in Ashland.

“The Apocalypse is Over,” Craigie’s eighth studio album, was inspired by his regular trips to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he was captivated by the music and spirit he found there. Blending jazz, folks, blues and country, Craigie’s stories transport listeners from life in the French Quarter (“Preservation Hall”) to Van Gogh’s descent into madness in the south of France (“Rachel”) to the lonely life of a musician on the road (“We Ain’t Leavin’ this Bar Patrick (Till We Find You Some Love)”).

Hailed as a “Modern-Day Troubadour” in the style of Woody Guthrie and Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Craigie has played every state in the U.S. in diverse venues including center camp at Burning Man, local bars and coffee shops, and a number of radio shows for stations such as such as KPIG, KHUM, and WUIN. He has performed with many musicians, including Todd Snider, Paul Thorn, Zach Gill, Brett Dennen, Shook Twins and Trampled by Turtles. Craigie is best known for his storytelling at his live shows, which stays true to the folk singer tradition.

Produced by the same team that created his well-received albums “Montana Tale” and “October is the Kindest Month,” the album was recorded in Martinez, California, in a house that was converted into a makeshift studio for a week.

John’s collaborators on “The Apocalypse is Over” include Steve Adams (bass), co-founder of Animal Liberation Orchestra (ALO) and currently working with Nicki Bluhm; Randy Schwartz (drums), former drummer for Brett Dennen; and Clinton Curtis (piano), a New Yorker with the soul of a New Orleans musician. Sean Hayes adds vocals to the opening track, “Innocent in My Arms.” The album was engineered, mixed and mastered by Cian Riordan.
