Rose Armin-Hoiland

Rose Armin-Hoiland is thrilled to present “Gotta Have a Song,” her first show in Arcata since relocating to her adopted city of Oakland, California. Born and raised in Arcata in a household full of music, Rose sang before she talked and began performing in choirs and musical theatre shortly thereafter. As a teenager, she formed a jazz trio with high school friends and, at age 15, started a four-year run as a headliner at Arcata’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration. At age 18, Rose began collaborating with talented local musicians such as Darius Brotman and Aber Miller to play regularly at clubs, weddings, theatres, and benefits. Some of Rose’s favorite highlights from her time in Humboldt County include being a featured performer at the Humboldt Folklife Festival’s Jazz Night in 2010, singing barefoot for the 26th Annual I Block Party in 2011, and her stint as a backup singer for The Phoebes, a local folk group.
