Schaub Memorial Lecture on Local Politics

“Nourishing the Grass Roots: Community Organizing and Local Government.” Three local community activists will discuss the role of citizen groups in addressing problems in local communities in the 11th annual Victor Schaub Memorial Lecture on Local Government to be held in the Great Hall of the College Creek Complex. Speakers Heidi Benzonelli, president of the Westside Community Improvement Organization; Larry Goldberg, founder of Transition Humboldt; and Renee Saucedo, speaking for the True North Organizing Network, all represent grass-roots organizations that, having recognized problems in their communities, mobilized community members and coordinated with local government to implement solutions. The event is sponsored by the Humboldt State Politics Department.
