Tall Ships Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain
Two tall ships, Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain, will make their annual visit to the Eureka waterfront in April. The ships are scheduled to arrive at the Bonnie Gool Guest Dock near the Adorni Center on April 17, and they’ll stay through April 22. Both tall ships will offer educational public tours and sailings, as well as programs for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. Here’s the ships’ public schedule:
- 4/18-19: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., walk-on tours, $3 donation per person.
- 4/18-19: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Battle Sails, $39-$75.
- 4/19: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Adventure Sail, $39-$47.
- 4/21-22: 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., walk-on tours, $3 donation per person.
- 4/22: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Evening Sail, $35.
Battle Sails are the ships’ most popular program, and the program features real cannons firing real gunpowder, but no cannon balls. Tickets are $75 adults, $67 students/seniors/active military, $39 children 12 and under. The Adventure Sail is a family-oriented experience that includes a chance to help the crew raise a sail, sing a sea shanty, and take the helm of a real tall ship, conditions permitting. Tickets $47 adults, $39 children 12 and under. The Evening Sail is similar to an Adventure Sail, and it’s value-priced at $35 per ticket.
Purchase tickets online or call 800-200-5239.
Walk-on tours do not require a ticket. Visitors can board the vessels and visit with the crews to learn about programs and voyages. A $3 donation per person is appreciated.
