High Rock Conservation Camp fire crews now being sent to the fire at the Lanphere dunes.

The fire — now called the “Slough Incident” — is less than an acre in size, and is burning in brush and dune pines. Two hand crews coming in to fight the fire.

Resident at Lanphere says that there may have been a nonpermitted campfire at the dunes. Firefighters en route are holding their current positions while one of their number attempts to check out the scene on foot.

10x10 debris fire near the Mad River Slough, off Lamphere Road in Arcata. A Coast Guard helicopter spotted it and called it in. Arcata Fire is going to check it out.
