Weed Feed: Hemp Legalization Awaits President Trump’s Signature

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s Twitter.

The House passed the 2018 Farm Bill Wednesday, which will legalize industrial hemp production across the U.S. pending President Trump’s final approval.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell spearheaded the bill’s hemp provision and even endorsed the bill using a hemp pen.

“Making it official with my hemp pen!” McConnell tweeted last week.

According to VoteHemp.com, the bill defines hemp as the entire plant, including seeds and extracts that contain less than 0.3 percent THC. The provision would also remove hemp from the Controlled Substances Act and make state agricultural departments responsible for its oversight.

President’s Trump is expected to sign the bill into law.

Mitch McConnell loves talking about his hemp pen.
