From the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

On 04-20-2012, approximately 9:20 a.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s office received a call from the Seaview Rehabilitation and Healthcare Facility on Purdue Drive, Eureka. The employee reported three males were at the facility, and one was armed with a knife trying to forcefully remove a patient. The males were trying to remove a patient by force and were refusing to leave. The males were associated with a white van parked out front and a motorcycle.

Deputies and California Highway Patrol Officers responded to the scene. Upon the deputies arrival they detained three adult men, including one with a knife. Deputies met with staff at the care home who told them one of the men jumped a back fence at the rear of the care home and bypassed the front desk. The man was identified by the deputies as Kevin Healy, 52 years old, from Eureka.

Healy had a large sheath knife visible on his side when he jumped the fence and entered the care home. Staff told the deputies they confronted Healy who told them he was there to visit his brother who was in the care home. When staff told Healy he needed to enter the care home via the front door and check in, Healy became argumentative and intimidating. Staff told the deputies Healy’s brother was staying at the care home, and he could have visited with his brother had he entered through the front and checked in per the care homes policy and protocol. The staff told the deputies they did not wish to pursue trespassing charges and at no time did Healy brandish the knife.

The two detained males with Healy were released. Healy was arrested for felony possession of a dirk or dagger, felony possession of concentrated cannabis and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. He was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where his bail is set at $50,000.00.
