On 06/15/12, at about 6:30 AM, investigators with the Eureka Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP) served a search warrant at the Blue Lake Casino on the subject of an on-going methamphetamine sales investigation, Brian Christopher Fleming (age 49). POP was assisted by the casino’s security team.

Fleming was taken into custody without incident in the parking lot after he was seen exiting the casino and walking toward his vehicle.

During a search of Fleming’s GMC pick-up truck, investigators located over ¼ pound of crystal methamphetamine (4.7 ounces) hidden inside the passenger compartment. Fleming was arrested for possession and transportation of a controlled substance for sale and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.

Investigators then responded to Fleming’s residence located near Myrtle and Hall Streets where they searched three adjoining houses owned by his family. Drug sales packaging materials and ammunition was seized at his residence.

Fleming was additionally arrested and booked for unlawful possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. A penalty enhancement charge was added due to Fleming’s arrest on yet another new felony offense while still out on bail from his previous felony arrest(s). Investigators also contacted a Humboldt County Superior Court Judge and requested a bail increase. Fleming’s bail was increased to $150,000.00 as a result.

This was Fleming’s third meth-related arrest by the Eureka Police Department since December 2011. A total of approximately a ½ pound (8 ounces) of methamphetamine has been seized from Fleming during the course of these 3 arrests.

On 12/20/11, EPD officers following up on a tip at a 4th Street motel conducted a parole search of a room in which Fleming was subsequently determined to be a guest. Two handguns, included a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol were found in the room. A stun gun and nearly ¼ ounce (6 grams) of methamphetamine were found on Fleming’s person. Fleming was arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for possession of methamphetamine for sale, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and unlawful possession of a stun gun by a convicted felon. Fleming later posted bail and was released from jail.

During the ensuing months, the POP Unit received information Fleming was selling methamphetamine from his residence located near Myrtle and Hall Avenues. POP subsequently sought and obtained a search warrant from a Humboldt County Superior Court Judge for Fleming and his residence(s).

On the morning of 05/24/12, POP investigators stopped the vehicle Fleming was driving on the 2700 block of Hubbard Lane, Eureka. Fleming was detained. During a subsequent search of his vehicle pursuant to the warrant, investigators located a loaded .22 caliber revolver on the seat next to where Fleming had been seated. Investigators also found over one ounce of crystal methamphetamine packaged for sale inside the truck.

During a subsequent search of Fleming’s residence, investigators located approximately 2 more ounces of crystal methamphetamine, 8 more firearms, and ammunition. Investigators also located further evidence of drugs sales activity including two scales, drug packaging materials, and hidden stash containers. In all, approximately 3 ounces of methamphetamine was seized during the execution of that search warrant.

Fleming (age 49) was arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for possession of methamphetamine for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance while armed, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Additionally, a penalty enhancement was added to Fleming’s charges due to his arrest on a new felony offense while still out on bail from his previous felony arrest. Fleming’s bail was set at $75,000.00. Fleming subsequently posted bail and was released from custody.
