From the Fortuna Police Department:

On June 9, 2013 at about 3:50 pm, the Fortuna Police Department received a report of a male subject on a motorcycle in the area of Fortuna Boulevard and Kenmar Road that was brandishing a firearm at another motorist.

Officer responded to the area and conducted a traffic stop on the motorcyclist in the area of the Strong’s Creek Plaza Shopping Center. The subject Wade Daniel Harris (Age 31) of Fortuna was detained and officers learned from witnesses that Harris may have discarded the firearm into a nearby field when he observed officers.

Officers conducted search of the field and located a loaded Kimber Semi-Automatic .45 Cal Pistol. It was determined that the pistol had been reported stolen out of Ontario, CA.

Harris was subsequently taken into custody on the following charges:

PC 417 – Brandishing Firearm
PC 496 – Possession of Stolen Property
PC 29800 – Felon in Possession of a Firearm
PC 25850 – Carrying a Loaded Firearm in Public
PC 1203.2 – Probation Violation

Harris was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and later released after posting bail.
