Fortuna Police Department press release:

On November 23, 2013 at about 9:50 pm, officers with the Fortuna Police Department responded to the 2400 block of Redwood Way for a report of a male subject carrying a rifle and running onto the campus of an assisted living facility in the area.

Upon arrival, staff advised that the subject had last been seen running to the rear of the property in the direction of Redwood Memorial Hospital. As a result, the Assisted Living Facility as well as Redwood Memorial Hospital were both placed on lockdown.

Officers checked the area extensively but were unable to locate the subject. The subject was described as a Hispanic male adult in his 20’s wearing sweat pants and a Bucket Style “Fisherman’s” Hat.

As a result of the incident, both facilities remained on lockdown throughout the night (with the exception of emergency traffic).
