Humboldt Co. Sheriff’s Office Press Release:

0n 11-7-2013, at approximately 5:00 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a citizen who reported he and his wife just chased three men from their residence located in the 2300 block of Redwood Street, Eureka. The couple said they were asleep when the heard what appeared to be someone walking in their residence. When they investigated, they found three male adults dressed in dark clothing in the hallway and living room of their residence. The suspects immediately fled their residence after being discovered by the homeowners. The homeowners pursued the suspects out of their home. The suspects were last seen fleeing on Walnut Drive through the Cal Courts Annex parking lot.

The homeowners later learned the suspects stole money, cameras, an Ipad, an Iphone, Xbox’s and a safe from their home.

A deputy who arrived in the area within a few minutes of the call spotted three adult males on bicycles wearing dark colored clothing riding bicycles on Walnut Drive near Hemlock Avenue, Eureka.. The deputy attempted to stop the suspects with his emergency lights and the suspects immediately began trying to evade the deputy. The suspects rode their bicycles into Sequoia Park, with two of the suspects riding their bicycles through the playground area. The third suspect jumped off his bicycle and ran away on foot into the woods. Additional deputies and Eureka Police responded and assisted with a search for the three suspects.

A deputy located one of the suspects hiding in the brush in the park and took him into custody. The other two suspects were not located. The suspect who was caught had the victim’s hard drive, camera and Iphone in his backpack. That suspect was identified as Tyrell Hassan Medley, 20 years old from Eureka. He was arrested for resisting arrest, possession of stolen property and burglary. He was transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where his bail was set at $50,000.00.

Deputies searched for the other two suspects but did not find them; they did however find a bicycle, X box, Apple Ipad, small safe and some cash stolen from the residence.

The homeowners discovered the suspects entered their residence through the attached garage which was accidentally left unlocked.

The suspects who are still at large were both wearing dark clothing. Both have athletic builds and are slim. One of them is described as being approximately 6-2 tall or taller per the victim’s. No other description is available at this time.
