UPDATE 10:40 P.M. Eureka Police Department press release:

On 9-24-13, at about 1449 hours, a citizen driving east on Fifth Street saw two men remove a window screen from the downstairs window of a motel room, from the inside of the room. The two men crawled out of the window.  The men were carrying property.  The subjects were white males in their 20’s.  The witness said they appeared afraid.

At about 1455 hours, a manager of the same motel called 911 and advised that one of his tenants was severely injured. Eureka Patrol Officers secured the scene for medical personnel. The 44 year old Eureka resident was transported to St Joseph Hospital Emergency Room.  The injuries were life threatening based on blood loss, however the injured person is not in jeopardy at this time.

The details about this incident are not clear at this time, although drugs and robbery are part of the story and the two motel rooms, one with the injured victim and the other with the two men sneaking out of the window, were involved.

No further details are being released at this time.  Anyone with information about this incident should call Senior Detective Ron Harpham at 441-4305.
