Eureka Police Department press release: 

On 04/03/2014, at about 2:37 PM, Detectives from the Eureka Police Department Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP) conducted a probation search at a motel located at the 800 block of Broadway. When the detectives entered the room, they contacted Cyle Abbott, Sr. (47) sitting on the bed with a handful of cash and a chunk of heroin sitting next to him.

Abbott was detained and a search of his room was conducted. As a result of their search, detectives located 6.5 grams of heroin, 16.4 grams of methamphetamine, 760 grams of marijuana, $3,355.00 cash and a stolen “Kona” mountain bike valued at $3000.00. Abbott was taken into custody and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for Possession of Heroin for Sales, Possession of Methamphetamine for Sales, Possession of Marijuana for Sales, Possession of Stolen Property and Probation Violations.

John Wayne Ellis (34) was also contacted and arrested in the room. Ellis had three outstanding felony warrants for his arrest and was on the Eureka’s Most Wanted List.
