Concerns over low flows and their effects on fish in our local rivers continue to grow. The latest manifestation of those fears comes to us in the above video produced by Yurok youth who wanted to compare recent developments to the 2002 Fish Kill, an event some are not old enough to even remember.
Here is the synopsis of the 12 minute clip from YouTube:
After hearing about sightings of salmon beginning to die upriver, a group of Yurok Youth use a digital storytelling workshop to document their community’s response. The Seventh Generation Fund Media Department led a digital storytelling workshop with the Yurok Social Services Youth Program. The youth wanted to explore the history of the 2002 fish kill and seek answers for preventing another disaster on their river.
