Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release:
On 1-07-2014, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an armed robbery that just occurred at 1021 Murray Road, Freeway 76, McKinleyville. The clerk told the dispatcher the suspect fled on foot westbound on Murray Road, armed with a handgun. When deputies arrived on scene they check the area for the suspect and were unable to locate him.
The 30 year old male clerk told the investigating deputy he was making coffee behind the service counter when the suspect entered the business. The clerk saw the suspect was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt under a black jacket and a black ski mask. The suspect pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at the clerk and ordered him to open the cash register. The suspect then ordered the clerk to lie on the floor behind the counter while the suspect emptied out the till. The suspect put all the cash into a red and black duffle bag which he brought with him. The suspect also stole the clerk’s wallet, telling the clerk he was taking it so he knew the clerks identity.
The suspect is described as: A white male adult, approximately 5‘10” tall to 6’ tall wearing a red hooded sweatshirt under a black jacket, and a black ski mask, black and red ” DC” type skate shoes with red lettering.
