Eureka Police Department Press Release:

On 5-31-2014 at about 5:44 am, officers of the Eureka Police Department were dispatched to the 2500 block of William Street for a vehicle theft that had just occurred. The victim stated that his blue 2006 Scion had just been driven away from his residence. 

Officers immediately began checking the area for the vehicle and soon located it occupied in the parking lot of a gas station at the 2800 block of Broadway. A felony enforcement stop was conducted and two suspects were detained without incident. One suspect was identified as Edward Brinson (26 years old of Eureka). The other suspect was a 16 year old juvenile male. Brinson was found to be in possession of both an electric stun gun and OC spray. A records check of Brinson revealed that he is on multiple counts of probation for theft related offences. 
Upon interviewing the juvenile and Brinson, it was determined that the juvenile had no knowledge of the thefts and he was later released to his parent.     

A check of the William Street area revealed two separate vehicle burglaries. Both vehicles window’s had been smashed out and items were taken. A search of the stolen vehicle led to the recovery of property taken from these two vehicle burglaries. 

Brinson was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, felon in possession of OC Spray, felon in possession of a stun gun, and probation violation. He is being held on $25,000 bail.
