A burglar swiped hundreds of dollars in property from the Eureka First Church of the Nazarene last night.

Pastor Syd Lemmon said the thief likely used a crowbar to break into the church office, where they stole a video camera, cash from the children’s Snack Shack, basketball equipment and a lawnmower.

“The door to the office had a deadbolt lock and they just pried the door opened and ripped out all the molding,” Lemmon said.

Door molding ripped from the wall.

The burglar also damaged another door and a safe. Lemmon estimates the damages could cost the church thousands of dollars to repair.

“It’s a bummer, because most of the stuff stolen was used for the children, Lemmon said. “Such as the snack shack money, equipment for our basketball camps and the video camera, which was used for various children and teen events.”

An Under Armour backpack was also taken and may have been used to carry off some of the stolen items.
