From the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

On 11-04-2015, at approximately 3:33 p.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a call from an anonymous citizen reporting suspicious activity in front of a business located in the 900 block of Redwood Drive, Garberville. The anonymous citizen reported that several subjects were standing around a parked Toyota truck and were inhaling “Whip-Its”.

Two Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Garberville Station responded to the call and the group fled on foot upon seeing the Deputies. A short time later, the parked Toyota truck associated with the subjects was seen traveling N/B on Redwood Drive. One of the Deputies followed the vehicle onto Hwy. 101. The Deputy observed a traffic violation and stopped the vehicle in the Benbow area.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Andrew Vannort (age 34) from Arcata. During the course of investigation, the Deputy located several hundred used “Whip-It” canisters in the bed Vannort’s truck. Vannort was also found to be driving on a suspended drivers license. The Deputy called for a tow truck and conducted an inventory search of Vannort’s vehicle. Inside the vehicle the deputy located 32 individually packaged containers of suspected concentrated cannabis (Honey Oil). Also located was over an ounce of “Shatter” which is another form of concentrated cannabis.

Vannort was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. Vannort was booked for possession for sales / transportation of concentrated cannabis, driving on a suspended drivers license, and violation of probation. Vannort’s bail was set at $25,000.
