UPDATE, 11:30 p.m.: Officers at the scene confirm what our scanner correspondent heard: One person was taken into custody. They don’t believe any other suspects are outstanding.

Moments ago, the suspect asked, from the back seat of a police car, what he would be charged with. “Burglary,” the officer responded.

“My dog will bite you!” a Eureka police officer just yelled into the office building at 7th and H streets, after police interrupted what appeared to be a burglary in progress.

As noted by Scanner Traffic Indicates team member “Just-In,” police received a report of a man attempting to crawl into a window at the site, just a few blocks from police headquarters at 6th and C. It’s unclear what happened when they got there, but scanner traffic indicated that a person was held at gunpoint.

When the Outpost’s Andrew Goff arrived at the scene a few minutes later, someone with keys had been called to the scene. That person unlocked the door, and the police entered the building with guns drawn, warning whoever might still be inside that they would soon unleash the K-9 unit into the building.

Police emerged a few minutes later. The building has been secured.

The Outpost will update when we know more.
