At about 8:15 last night, a call came into the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office reported that a home on the 5500 block of Walnut Drive in Cutten had been shot into. One round, they were told, shattered a sliding glass door, traveled through the home and exited through a window at the rear.

Selena Zorrilla Mendoza, spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office, confirmed this morning that the incident had taken place as described. She said that one deputy was dispatched to the location initially, followed by a few others for backup. However, they were not able to identify a suspect.

Zorrilla Mendoza said that the Sheriff’s Office is still investigating, and would like to hear from anyone who might have any information. Neighbors who saw any suspicious people or vehicles in the neighborhood last night at around the time in question are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251.
