Reports of slides, slipouts and rain-related crashes keep coming in hot and heavy on the CHP dispatch page, which is likely the place you will find out soonest if the road you plan to travel is impacted.
This morning’s 101 slide at Loleta continues to shut down northbound traffic, but Caltrans is currently expecting to have one lane open by noon.
Meanwhile, the Humboldt County Department of Public Works just issued a list of its roads that it knows to be impacted at the moment. Redwood Drive between Garberville and Redway is completely shut down. Old Arcata Road at Ole Hanson is “travel at your own risk”:
From the Humboldt County Department of Public Works:

- Alderpoint Road down to one lane at m.p. 32.4 near Charles Bar.
- Redwood Drive completely closed between Evergreen and Bear Canyon.
- Old Arcata Road flooded at Ole Hanson, dangerous, travel at own risk.

UPDATE, 12:30 p.m.: County roads says that Mitchell Road in Weitchpec is also closed due to a slide.
The National Weather Service has upgraded its flood watch for several North Coast rivers — including the Eel and the Van Duzen to a “flood warning,” meaning that flooding is to be expected. We’ve put the flood-watch monitors at the top of our homepage and at LoCO Earth.
Here’s the statement from the Weather Service as it pertains to the Eel River Delta:
The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a FLOOD WARNING for the Eel River At Fernbridge from this evening to late Monday night…or until the warning is cancelled.
At 8:15 AM Sunday the stage was 10.7 feet. * Moderate FLOODING IS FORECAST. * Flood stage is 20 feet. * Forecast to crest near 22.5 feet late Monday morning. * IMPACTS…At 22 feet…The western half of the Eel Delta may be completely flooded, especially if at or above this level for an extended period of time. This includes areas northwest of Loleta and the western portion of Cannibal Island Road.
